A name I cannot remember, a view I cannot forget
I'm not sure if it's the forgetfulness or if it's the forgetful experience at this restaurant whose name I cannot remember. I had conversations with my friends when we went overseas for a trip and as much as I tried to recall this name, I could not, all I remember was the view. Yes it was the view I remember and it was stunning.
Food: Had high expectatstions for the food but I was really disappointed by the quality. Let me start with the good stuff: the walnut bread was fresh, with President butter, the unagi tempura salad was unique and delicious, and the nyonya cake which I think came from Bengawan solo was up to Bengawan's standard. The rest: laksa laced with whipping cream, soft western sausages, soggy fish on sushi, pasta only served with mushroom, buboh cha cha without coconut milk .... were not up to par, worse than roadside food. How could they, and I actually thought of going there for a posh dinner one night.
Ambience: Lovely view, even though we did not get a window seat, facing the IR at Marina bay. Comfortable chairs and tables.
Value: Raffles gourmet card got us 50% off but it was still not worth it.
Service: Pleasant, quiet, unsmiling staff bustled around providing reasonable service. But not in keeping with the tallest restaurant in Singapore.
