Having been to a large number of Japanese eateries in Singapore e.g (Shokudo!, Ajisen Ramen, Sushi Tei, Sakae Sushi, Kuishinbo etc) and all of them are sub-standard in the above mentioned criteria. Nanjya Monjya on the other-hand is exceptionally authentic, those who have been to Japan and knows about Japan extensively would attest to my claims. The restaurant's ambience clearly reflects their Kyushu origins as the dark wood based interior decor and styles are reminiscent of Izakaya-s in Fukuoka which i enjoy thoroughly amidst the soft glow of incandescent lamps and slow music.
